I decided to try building some realistic BattleTech models, hoping to bring my
skill up to par with the designs on the Lego MechWarrior and Lego
MechCommander sites.
The result is the Behemoth/Stone Rhino. This ultra-large Assault-class
BattleMech is featured on the cover of the 3055TRO (ISBN#1-55560-164-2).
The model is in LDraw format only. I estimate that the brick cost to buy
enough kits to build the Behemoth would be over $1,000 at least.
The LDraw DAT file had 34 sub-models, and was 47k when inlined. The POV
images on my site took 15 minutes to render, despite their tiny size and lack
of many transparencies.
