The increased security has payed off. The first images on the new mecha

Hey all. I would like to showcase my newest and largest mecha ever...Carver.

Very nice!  I've been waiting to see these pics; when you posted your teaser
pic, I was intrigued by the hint of a worm gear in the thigh area.  My favorite
parts of this mecha are the head and the feet.  I also like the way you made
the lower legs, with the Gundam-esque bulge.  A fine model indeed!  And it
looks very poseable!

Carver Stats:
26 points of articulation.

I never quite understood what qualifies as a point of articulation.  I mean,
does a point of articulation have to rotate by a certain amaount to qualify?  I
think this term Bandai made up to advertise it's models, and yet some of their
"points" barely move at all!  Oh, wait, back to the issue at hand...

15 3/4 inches tall (the largest I ever built)

Thats about the same size as My Cepheus and Eric's "Little" Blue Bot.  I think
that's a good scale on which to build mecha; at that scale, technic axles are
much more agreeable than they are on the 2-3 feet scale.  Yet it's large enough
to detail sufficiently (see, for example, Mladen's Coyote or Azriel).

Utilizes worm gears, click hinges, and ball joints

Excellent!

Armament:
Four Vulcan machine guns (internal)
Two MFGL (Multi Function Gernade Launcher) (internal)
Four heat blades
Two RTC missle clusters (9 missles each)

The name Carver is from the four giant heat blades on each arm. The dishes
on each shoulder are massive iField generators for added protection.
Internal jump jets are located on the calves and shoulder assembly for
manuverablity. Additional ramjet booster pack is added for maximum speed and
jump distance.

Inspiration and thanks to:
Pilot Canidate (main style influence)
Christopher Snead (worm gear idea)

Heh!  I'm glad you found use for this gearbox.  Now I have to let you in on a
little secret.  The axle used that has the stud on one end?  I cut the stud
off.  That way, the axle can be locked in place, and fit inside a four stud
wide gearbox.  One can also make a five stud long gearbox, and not cut the bump
off; either way, the axle is locked in place so that the leg can take much more
weight...

I generally don't like cheating like that, but I have so many of those axles,
and it works, so...

Later, Chris
