Anyway, the purpose of this post is to question all of you anime savvy
guys/gals out there that have seen this about how this (and the mobile
armour within the movie) compares with other anime, I wanna know if it is
the cream of the crop and as good as anime get's, or if it's just okay.

I remember that name, but it doesn't stand out for me, so chances are I
didn't think that much of it.  Seen so much that it sometimes blurs into
one.  IMHO the best anime over the last few years was Neon Genesis:
Evangelion.  Involved story, multifaceted characters and really really cool
mecha, (A bit big for traditional mecha I guess but...) But that's just me  ;-)

(...) If you are looking for good mech action just check out the first four and last four episodes of Gundam Wing. I was a hardcore Star Wars fan for a decades: I have seen the trilogy hundredths of times (literally) and own hundredths of dollars (...) (23 years ago, 25-Aug-01, to lugnet.build.mecha)

Hey all, in my anime lacking frustration, I went to the movie rental shop and checked out their anime section, the only anime besides Gundam, escaflowne, and dragon ball(z) that I have heard of was patlabor (Mladen mentions it often) and appleseed (...) (23 years ago, 25-Aug-01, to lugnet.build.mecha)
