Awesome!

I was debating whether or not the collector sets were worth it. I guess I'll
probably get them.

Thank you!

Does anyone own any of the Robotech DVD's? I was wondering if missing scenes
were restored.

Yep, just got the second box yesterday.  :)

I have some of the tapes from the late 80's and I know that several scenes
were deleted. The one that springs to mind is in The Long Wait (episode 4)
Hunter leaves the ship to retrieve a tuna fish in space.

I'm really curious if the DVD is simply a duplicate of the VHS tapes or is
returned to it's broadcast status.

The DVD release is the complete uncut broadcast series.  :)  Everything is
there, including the original eyecatches, which I don't think have been
broadcast since the original run.  Also, the Extras discs that come with each
of the mini-box sets have all kinds of nifty stuff, like the original Matchbox
toy commercials (on the second extras disc).  :)
