Wow!

Wow! Finished or not, these things rock! Any chance to get pics of the
'internal structure' or without the armor?

Hello all,

Just wanted to point you to some mecha that I built recently.  There are
three models in all.

My goal was to integrate as much posablilty as possible; posability that
holds weight and is easy to articulate.  You'll see what I mean when you see
the pictures.

I must pay homage to Dave Thomas Jr. and his phenominal designs as the
source for most of my inspiration.  A few weeks ago I studied his rendition
of the Zaku from Gundam(in my opinion the definitive one in Lego)
religiously.  After many hours of study I had in my hand a near faithful
copy of his model.  From there I performed a lot of internal tweaks to
produce my Zaku-like model.  They look very similar but underneath there is
different stuff going on.

My Zaku proved to be a great test bed model which I used to try all kinds of
experiments.  The final result being a base mecha structure with an internal
skeleton, removable armor and 14 points of articulation.

All three models are merely studies and are not really complete.  I didn't
really take time to add in much detail.  They are just exercises in using
pieces the way Dave does for external details as well as integrating my own
techniques for the internal structure.

Well without further ado . . .

The cool thing is this basic "skeleton is almost (...) (23 years ago, 26-Jul-01, to lugnet.build.mecha)
