No, but neither is anything on most LEGO designs. All the models that we LEGO
mecha builders have flaws, some of the most important ones are balance and
weight. Mecha like the ones most of us build will not become a reality in the
next couple of years, nor will they in a couple of decades, or even ever. The
chest is one example of this. It is there purely to make the mecha look good.
You can find thousands of ways to dissect mecha and analyze their problems, but
face it, all of them HAVE some or many problem. Heck, the "Azriel" even has
unarmoured fuel tanks just waiting for some troops to shoot at. ;-)
Also, if you watch anime such as Gundam Wing, or Patlabor, you will see that
mecha in those series/movies have protruding chests.
