Here it is, as promised, my red mech. It's a origami mech, I think that's
what you call them. Anyway, I dug deep and found all of my red detail pieces
and went to work and the result is: Gladiator.

As you may have guessed from the name this mecha was not made for the battle
field. It was created for " Gladiator fights." Somewhat similar to the
fights in the movie "Gladiator." Except without the humans and the flying blood.

This is a medium sized gladiator mech that goes one on one with other mechs
in fight to the death gladiator wars in an arena. It is not remote
controlled, but instead uses standard AI to do battle. It has a little
styling from Japanese samurai, Roman GLadiation( is that a word?) and a
little gundam wing in the rockett boosters.

This mecha is armed with A 17mm shoulder cannon which is used to "stun" the
enemy before it lunges forward and stabs the mecha with one of 13 extruding
"sharp" points.

Gladiators shield is used obviously for blocking shots or stabs by the
enemy. It has a mini spear on the end as well for stabbing. Turning a
defensive item into a offensive item. The head of Gladiator has four sharp
mini spears that can be used in a head butt to spear the enemy throughthe
middle four times.

It has fairly heavy armour( by that I mean strong armour, not "oh this rock
is so heavy") with a armour cape covering it's rear joints and three smaller
capes covering the front.

It has twin mini booster's on the back that allow for about thirty seconds
of hovering at a time.

I'm not too terribly happy with the feet, I might do up another version with
new feet. Overall though I'm pretty happy with the model. Inspiration from
of course, "Gladiator" the movie. And some minor inspiration from Pete's
mecha that use hitting weapon's instead of just guns as offensive weaponry.

Please let me know what you think nomatter what you think of it. Which is to
say That I should get a reply from everyone who reads this post because they
all have an opinion (Haha just kidding).

PLMKWYT!!!

Geordan

Much appreciated Eric! It was so much fun trying to use seemingly strange pieces on a mini mech to make it look cool. Red does indeed look good. Thanks! Geordan (...) (23 years ago, 21-Jun-01, to lugnet.build.mecha)
