Chris, I heard lots of good things about Cephus. Plus in the Lugola pix I
can see that the Mech is alot bigger than I thought! Right on for making it
down there for the meeting. Also I've been thinking about going for a trip
to see my old digs in the Bay area. I used to live in S.F. and El Cerrito as
a kid, so maybe we'll get a chance to meet in Lug meetings to come. Any how
good luck with all. C-ya --- Eric

I'm pleased that you like Cepheus.  It was actually born out of an attempt to
make a gundam-like mech; but, as soon as I finished the arm, I thought
"Terminator".  One thing about Cepheus that is hard to tell in the pictures is
how its click-stop joint mechanism works.  People seem to like it alot, which
pleased me, because I felt like such a moron trying to come up with a
click-joint mechanism, only to discover that Lego already made them and put
them in Star Wars sets!

So, I'm working on my next mech, which is also going to use my clicky jointy
mechanism, although its going to be bigger and more stable.  Don't hold your
breath, though; I spent five hours last night trying to get a twist motion in
the leg, without success.  I figure maybe by the end of the summer I will have
made some real progress.  But I'm alot less optimistic about it than I was
before.  I had these visions of having a two foot tall gundam with a complet
endoskeleton underneath; now, I don't know what it's going to become.

Anyway, yeah, I'm in the Bay Area (Berkeley to be exact).  I had never thought
about going to a LUG meeting before LUGOLA; but I enjoyed myself alot.  So I'm
gonna see about those BayLug meetings.  If you happen to be in the area, though
feel free to come on by and say "hi".

Thanks for the kind words!

Christopher

Right on, build as you can, Hey my stuff took a long time too, so I know where your comming from, I guess it's almost enough for me to know that someone is out there doing this. So I'll wait. Keep at it, Cepheus came out great. So I of course look (...) (23 years ago, 4-May-01, to lugnet.build.mecha)

WOW! Why didn't I find out about this before. I've seen those pictures of your mecha, and I was IMPRESSED, but I didn't know that the Cepheus had clicking-joints. Any chance of a small set of pictures explaining how this works... Actually, you (...) (23 years ago, 4-May-01, to lugnet.build.mecha)
