    Site Update (mecha!) —Mladen Pejic
New: Six-Legged Mecha of Mass-Destruction (URL) Micro-Fig Building (okay, so I was bored!) (URL) Yes, my camera skills are bad, and no I don't want 50 messages saying how bad they are. However some insightful e-mails would be nice. ;-) !!! Fear not (...) (24 years ago, 29-Dec-00, to lugnet.build.mecha, lugnet.space)

(...) works well but doesn't seem like it should. You've avoided the "bumble bee" look. How tall is it? What was your inspiration on this one? It doesn't look like anything I've seen before...although it does remind me of the crab guys in Dark (...) (24 years ago, 29-Dec-00, to lugnet.build.mecha, lugnet.space)

Re: Site Update (mecha!) —Mladen Pejic
Thanks Bryce! It is about a foot tall, I guess. My inspiration was just to build a really large 6 legged mecha, but inspiration also came from Masamune Shirow; ever seen Appleseed the anime, notice that big Mobile Platform mecha at the end... I can (...) (24 years ago, 29-Dec-00, to lugnet.build.mecha, lugnet.space)

Re: Site Update (mecha!) —Kyle Keppler
Yea! Mass-destruction at it's greatest! Does it support it's weight well or does it fall after 2 minutes (My mecha have been know to do this...) BTW The pictures suck! J/K Accually you did a pretty good job photoing all that black! Keep 'em comin'! (...) (24 years ago, 29-Dec-00, to lugnet.build.mecha, lugnet.space)

Re: Site Update (mecha!) —Mladen Pejic
Thanks Kyle! Actually the mecha is quite stable on most, non-slick surfaces such as carpet, paper, and etc. However it does begin to slip and fall on very slick surfaces, such as a kitchen table. (...) (24 years ago, 29-Dec-00, to lugnet.build.mecha, lugnet.space)

Re: Site Update (mecha!) —Dave Schuler
(...) leg/foot design of this mecha in particular; how well would those small feet do at full-scale on real terrain? For the probable weight of such a vehicle they seem likely to pierce the ground--is this a factor to consider in design? I don't (...) (24 years ago, 29-Dec-00, to lugnet.build.mecha)

Re: Site Update (mecha!) —Mladen Pejic
Thanks Dave! Yes the feet are meant to pierce the ground, this way the mecha is more stable when firing shells from the rail gun. Right now, when I place the mecha on a carpet it sinks in only 1 cm, but off course carpet and real-world terrain are (...) (24 years ago, 29-Dec-00, to lugnet.build.mecha)

Re: Site Update (mecha!) —Dave Schuler
(...) Ah! That makes sense. I guess it wouldn't be too safe to fire your gun if every time you did it you rolled backward like tumbleweed. You might be in trouble for desert or beach combat, though! 8^) Dave! (24 years ago, 29-Dec-00, to lugnet.build.mecha)

Re: Site Update (mecha!) —Mladen Pejic
Yeah, you're right about the desert/beach combat, oh well... (...) (24 years ago, 29-Dec-00, to lugnet.build.mecha)

Re: Site Update (mecha!) —Jason Ellis
Very nice job you've done there Mladen. Actually nice doesn't do it justice, maybe awsome, but that doesn't quite hfit the bill either. Well anyway you've done a great job with this one. In regards to the feet piercing the ground for firing (...) (24 years ago, 29-Dec-00, to lugnet.build.mecha)

Those yellow tubes pointing in several angles are generally called "smoke ejectors" when you see them on tanks - creates a smoke screen to hide tactical maneuvers. I'd hate to see this thing (...)          Re: Site Update (mecha!) —Mladen Pejic
Thanks Brian! Actually those yellow things are auto-cannons, if I was making smoke ejectors they would be way shorter. (...) (24 years ago, 29-Dec-00, to lugnet.build.mecha, lugnet.space)

Re: Site Update (mecha!) —Greg Majewski
Holy Shnikies! That mech is huge! And awesome to boot! I really like the arthropod-ish look to it, and I really like that its design is nothing like any of your other mecha. (Nothing negative, but most of them look exactly alike.) Do more! Greg "For (...) (24 years ago, 29-Dec-00, to lugnet.build.mecha, lugnet.space)

Re: Site Update (mecha!) —Mladen Pejic
Thanks Greg! Yeah, you're absolutely correct about arthropod-mecha designs looking the same, that's why I tried so hard to make this one different. (...) Majewski (...) (24 years ago, 29-Dec-00, to lugnet.build.mecha, lugnet.space)
