Build Notes
  • I had lots of fun building this, and it was an incredible challenge for me not only in terms of time (with a 15-week old baby at home) but also in terms of finding useful pieces - note to self - MUST...SORT...PIECES...SOON!!
  • Scale is Microfig, as described elsewhere by Janey Red Brick.
  • WAY Unstable - next mecha should have more body & leg strength - this thing will crumble if you breathe on it.
  • Wish I had time to devote to unified color scheme - note to self - MUST...SORT...PIECES...SOON!!
  • I’m still in awe of you true Iron Mecha out there who can whip out a great model that’s strong and aesthetically pleasing, adhering much more exactly to the given picture. You guys have some incredible talent! It’s been fun being part of this build!
  • Sorting would be good.
Peace and Long Life,
Tony Alexander

Fun thoughts that came to me as I was building:
With a crew of 12, this rig is capable of maneuvering onto difficult slopes here on Earth or offworld to facilitate mining for valuable ores.

The sonic amplifier on the 39MP’s right side focuses intense sound beams into the mountainside, shattering stone easily for pickup and processing by another unit. The control room for this amplifier is state of the art, requiring only 2 crew members for precise mining.

The observation deck/cockpit area between amplifier control and the maintenance bay provides a clear view for the team leader to survey ongoing operations, and with plenty of floor space, becomes a favorite place to relax during the off hours as well. A small hoverpad behind the maintenance bay allows for quick transfer to and from the mobile platform with small hovercraft.

The habitation module to the 39MP’s left comfortably houses the crew for jobs lasting up to 6 months. Facilities have been provided not only for accomodation and foodservice, but for entertainment, team meetings, exercise, and training as well.
