The key is the indirect light component, bouncing light off a white background
to add to the illumination. Increasing the direct light intensity just creates
bad bright spots (specular highlights).

As a slight aside, I have to say, my Teknomeka model never ceases to amaze
people who see it in person. I had old friends of mine saw it over
Thanksgiving; they used to be into Lego as children and teens, but had since
moved on to other things. I brought it out to show their kids, and they were
so impressed, exclaiming, I had never thought along those lines before!
You could see in their expressions that ideas were brewing, and they were
plotting to dig out their old collections...

The Teknomeka is guaranteed to be the life of the party. :-)
People who have been away from Lego see these big, technically advanced models
and its a brand new experience. Technic isnt just for making crude looking
tractors and forklifts anymore. (If the Lego company would just start making
sets like this, in the skinned Technic style, they could revive Technic.)

Im glad to see that youre still coming up with new skins and refining your
techniques. I always look forward to seeing a new one of your mecha appear on
Brickshelf, and your backstories are always entertaining to read :)

I think I post on lugnet about a moc mostly for the chance to write an
excessively detailed backstory. Everyone will see the moc on brickshelf anyway.
