Im always up for some discussion, especially when you hit my favorite subject -
Five Star Stories
Original design
Very nice. I like the careful smoothness; in fact, the whole upper body is
great.
Some of the little things bug me - the toes seem incredibly clumsy compared to
the original, and the legs lose almost all of their subtle slope. The waist and
forward skirting also seem clunkier.
I think it was a great attempt at poor chioce of designs to model in lego,
because inevitably some of the delicacy and subtle lines of the original design
were lost. Thats not an attempt to fault the creator - I think anyone would
have run up against the same issues with this design.
Relaxing the studlessness to reduce thickness probably would have helped, and
more hinging would have helped, but ultimately I think the parts just dont
exist to really do the design justice at this scale. A more angular design like
Junchoon probably would have suited his style better.
I still like it, and its definitely going to force me to look more closely at
the way I build MH in the future.
