They have limited life running on batteries. Still, its a good first generation
of practical ground combat robots.
With mecha, capability really boils down to the power supply.
Gas turbines or fuel cells would likely be the primary power source for future
large mecha in the absence of compact fusion generators (or ZPE modules). Battle
robots that can only operate at full power for a few minutes are no fun at all.
