This was the hard part of this one, I had to find two white plate hinges that
had exactly the same tension in them.  Otherwise the greater friction on one
side of the jaw versus the other would cause the jaw to come apart.

Oh wow, I really like the way the mouth opens and closes.
The overall feel is like that of the Warhound. (one of my clan favs)

Hehe, theme, I really should develop that.  I mean I got clan mechs and Snow
Leopard Space Ninjas.

The title itself is killer, "Mecha of the Homeworld." oooooohhhh.

Hey neat, the shooty things fold and can be slung up behind the mech, very cool.

Thanks, I think I finally broke the hand curse.  I have such a hard time with
arms and hands.

Nice thumb solution. I like that.

The center section (inverse) use cool parts.

it is locked.  The 24 gear is locked to a 8 toothed gear whos axle is locked in
a 1x2 technic brick with axle connection.  (the kind that does not spin freely)
It was a new experimentation to get the angle right to transition from ~45
degree angle of the leg to a flat hip.  By adjusting the 24 toothed gear, I can
tilt the body forwards or backwards.  At the time I was sort of running out of
parts to get articulation.

Hey is the z24 at the upper leg, is that locked? Or is it articulated?

Yeah, it's kind of funny actually, if I remove the neck and head, the mech
really looks like any number of my other mechs.  It's the head that really makes
SnowCat.

The feel of this Mech is like that of a true Biomechanoid. Wielding that head
around like as if your Mech was walking a huge Saber Cat.

This size works best with whole technic bricks/beams.    You can get a
respectable size and it's really really strong.  SnowCats lower legs are
actually four 16 long technic beams, a pair of 16s is sandwitched inbetween the
another pair that run to the ankle.  There is a "key" that sticks out at the top
of the lower leg, and that is locked into position with the upper leg.
Once you get bigger you have to start splicing beams.  The easies way I found to
do that was to off set and then pin a pair of beams together, so say I want a 32
long beam, I'll use three 16 long beams and 2 8 long beams.  Two 16s end to end
married to a 16 between a pair of 8s.

But as for porportions, I almost always build the legs first, and that in turn
dictates the scale of the mech.  And when I build the leg I sort of fool with it
till I'm happy.  I know that the body needs to be (roughly) 1/3rd the height of
the leg member.  (so with my mechs I try to maintain a 2/3, 1/3 legs/body
proportional relationship in size) I just keep that rule in mind and I tend to
end up ok. It's really kind of zen building, I may have a rough idea, but the
brick tells me how and what to build.

When you make these size Mechs, do you work with whole numbered Technic Beams as
a standard for the leg proportions? That is to say, 1x16's make a good fit for
the lower legs etc....?

curious.

Wow, good morning! I have been waiting for this. Hmmm, let's see. Oh wow, I really like the way the mouth opens and closes. The overall feel is like that of the Warhound.
