  Hardsuit

Here's a little 3 day build that came about while I wait for the pieces to arrive for my gundam. (2 URLs) This design came about because I wanted to build something with four arms. The fact that my pieces are currently very limited made it a small (...) (20 years ago, 20-May-04, to lugnet.build.mecha, FTX)

(...) Wow! Great job. Obviously your Lego creativity & building skills are NOT limited! Jeff (20 years ago, 20-May-04, to lugnet.build.mecha, FTX)

  Re: Hardsuit

(...) Criticism? No chance of that from me on this model. This is simply one of the coolest looking hardsuits I've ever seen and the four arm interpretation of the hardsuit is just obscenely sweet! Further proof that color isn't everything. (...) (20 years ago, 20-May-04, to lugnet.build.mecha, FTX)

  Re: Hardsuit

Very nice. I love it when someone posts a model and I have no clue how it goes together. If we can both make Brickfest let's have a hardsuit sumo match :). The only thing that bothers me is the shoulders, I think they could use a bit of bulking up. (...) (20 years ago, 20-May-04, to lugnet.build.mecha, FTX)

  Re: Hardsuit

(...) Soren, I agree with you that the shoulders need bulking up. However, there is so little space between the two arms that even a 1 x 1 plate would destroy some of its posability. If you can think of a way around this, I'd love to hear about it. (20 years ago, 20-May-04, to lugnet.build.mecha, FTX)

  Re: Hardsuit

(...) Hey Brayton. I love seeing new hardsuits, especially with whole minifigs in them. It is very unique. The four arms are cool. I would really like to see some action shots to see how poseable the hardsuit is and also how the pilot (...) (20 years ago, 20-May-04, to lugnet.build.mecha, FTX)

(...) Dave, here are the poses you asked for. (3 URLs) There's a couple more in the folder. (URL) -Brayton (20 years ago, 20-May-04, to lugnet.build.mecha, FTX)

NEAT-O! great pix too, this is sweet. um, dang, a batallion of these would be cool hey. I can imagine it working. Limbs and all. nice. e (20 years ago, 20-May-04, to lugnet.build.mecha)

  Re: Hardsuit

(...) Mmmmm... Okay, here's an idea. Instead of mounting both sets of arms directly above one another, move the lower pair forward two studs. It would take a bit of rebuilding but it would give you a lot more room to expand the shoulders. Soren (20 years ago, 21-May-04, to lugnet.build.mecha)

It takes real skill to build joints and limbs (and a cockpit!) at this scale, and I don't have it, so I'm always on the prowl for ideas to improve my technique. Thanks (...) (...) Now that's almost scary. Scary in the "I hate you because I can't figure out how you did that" scary. :-) Seriously, very cool to see a mecha with more than two arms. And the way you totally entombed the fig is top notch. Well done. The only (...) (20 years ago, 22-May-04, to lugnet.build.mecha, FTX)

  Re: Hardsuit

I really like this. Like Kyle, it gave me a lot of valuable inspiration on how to build small things while still maintaining a detailed look. I've been trying for some time to build small, but it hasn't worked out. Obviously, 1*1's in all flavours (...) (20 years ago, 22-May-04, to lugnet.build.mecha, FTX)

  Re: Hardsuit

Thanks to everyone for the replies and suggestions. I will take these into account on my future builds. I should have my Gundam up in a day or two. -Brayton (20 years ago, 22-May-04, to lugnet.build.mecha, FTX)
