But the “swan”--the color scheme, the
shoulder/waist/head proportions, the detailing (thanks for the shot of the
foot!), the sword pose...

It’s funny you mention the colors, I wasn’t sure I liked them until I finished.
The sword was frustrating, I couldn’t figure out how to get it to look right,
and then my only option was the current pose.
