The dropship:
I like the general form and colors and all that. This is a perfect first
draft. I would make the connection from the cabin to the top of the ship
solid (as opposed to the two technic beams you've got there now). I also
recommend subbing some dark grey in where you've got black. It'll help
bring out details in the parts that are black, and should also add to the
realism.
Personally, I think you should loose the red grills on the front and use
dark grey instead. The red is a good idea, but that particular part of the
ship just doesn't seem like it should be red to me. Maybe if you used red
in some kind of insignia, maybe some red tiles/grills arranged in a pattern
on each wing.
Most of those are very simple changes. Like I said, the form is very good
and you've got some interesting snot work, especially that cabin with the
backwards canopy. I like how, although the two pairs of engines are in very
different places (top versus wings), they look like the same units, just
modified enough to fit where they've been put. The boxy/snub-nosed cabin
definitely fits too. Oh, one last thing--greebles! I don't know quite
where you should put them, but it definitely needs some (greebling is
something I have to work on myself--my latest work will have my first
attempt at greebling).
Not sure what you meant about the grappling thing; I couldn't see anything
kind of grappling system in your pictures. Unless you're asking us for
suggestions on how to do it. Maybe a Babylon 5 style launching system? I'm
thinking of two paralell rods, horizontal for transport, then they pivot
downward and mechs could slide off (the mechs would have to have
loose-fitting slots for the rods to fit through).
The Mecha:
I'm not really a big mecha person, so I don't have much to say here. I like
the feet and legs, there's some nice work with small parts to make a lot of
moveable joints. Maybe everyone makes mech feet that way, I don't know...

p.s. It needs landing gear ;)
