Tired of click hinges —Moish Brenman
Alright i'm probably gonna get lynched for this one but here goes- does anybody NOT use the click hinges for joints? i realize it is a great piece, but it seems to me to be a little bit of a "cheat" if you will. of course i'm not condemning anyone (...)      (...) anybody (...) seems (...) condemning (...) Well, with my HERC-12 Thunderbolt, I use clicks for ankles only. The rest are technic-style joints. (URL) (24 years ago, 20-Jul-00, to lugnet.build.mecha)

Re: Tired of click hinges - use technic pins with friction —Jonathan Delinger
I have dozens of the black friction pins and no dacta sets so they must come in 'normal' sets somewhere. however for me, even the black pins only work on small mecha. most of my 8+ inch models won't even stand using two friction pins a joint.       Here's a little secret: Put a small, narrow strip of Saran Wrap around each end of the black friction pin. It'll work wonders for your mecha. You'll find that they can support much more weight this way. Enjoy. ~Mark (24 years ago, 22-Jul-00, to lugnet.build.mecha)
