This sounds fun.

I'd like to have an unlimited class surface racer category, for which I've
thought of a few basic rules (just so that I can use one of my war surplus
GEV's).

The race schedule would consist of several different courses, some on water,
some on snow and ice, some on land, some on two or three surfaces.

Some courses are point to point, like a rally, others are several laps of a
grueling circuit. Typical race lengths are from 200 km to 2000 km, with the
occasional around the planet endurance race.

Since this is surface racing, the most important rule is that for 90% of the
course, your racing craft must have it's bottom within 3 meters of the
surface. If you feel confident that you can fly an airplane within 3 meters of
the terrain fo ran entire race, enter one.

The unlimited means there are few other restrictions on the racing, armanents
being one.

I think GEVs and ground effects vehicles would be the best, though a multi-
wheel drive amphibian would be hard to beat in the more mountainous courses.

Thanks,

George

Hi all, I've been thinking (with ideas from Mark Sandlin) about starting up a new contest centered solely around minifig scale racing vehicles. I know the Design a Civvie contest had a racing category, but I am talking about a contest with beefed up (...) (24 years ago, 21-Sep-00, to lugnet.build.contests, lugnet.space)
