It's probably a bit late for that, but if helps you decide, I don't see any
reason why not.

In a few cases, there is a feature
that isn't noted in the description that looks like it does something cool.
Should I just judge it based on what I can see (which rates presentation
almost as much as the model itself), or should I post the questions here?

IMHO, the burden of proof of coolness (or whatever you wanna call it :-)
is always on the designer of a model -- it should be clear from photos or
descriptions -- but that's just an ideal, IMHO.  I'll be judging things on
what I can see -- and therefore somewhat on the presentation (camera angles
can make a difference) -- but I'll try to imagine having it in front of me
too.  Some of the entries' photos are a lot like the photos LEGO used in the
inside-flap of the big-set boxes -- that seems to help a lot.  Some of the
entries' photos also look like catalog shots -- and since this a set design
and building contest -- presentation matters.  How much it matters is up to
you -- pick what makes you most excited and what looks like it might really
could have been a set back then.

I could have sworn I posted this yesterday, but I can't find the post anywhere. On a related note...
