Good answer, Nik!
People who explore the NASA web site a bit will, I believe, find that what
actually went on the rovers are not the figs themselves, but images of them
printed on a DVD.

The extremes of heat and vacuum and sand and etc. mean that ABS wouldn't last
long. The "bricks" that hold the DVDs (with the Biff/Sandy images printed on
them)onto the landers are actually made of metal as well.
