Cool! A contest to make a space creation that looks like my favorite
pre-jet-era aircraft!!
I’d suggest an “extra points” contest to get the cockpit entry as close to the
original as possible. (For those unfamiliar with the P-38, the top center
portion of the canopy hinged up and to the rear, and the rectangular panel to
the pilot’s left slid down like an automobile window). I’m trying to find a pic
to link to, but work is getting in the way...
Check out the links available for P-38s, as there were several variants that
would make interesting space subjects -- night fighter (with radarman hunched
over a scope in a cramped extra space up and behind the pilot’s cockpit);
glass-nosed version, etc.
