Hi fellow droolers.

There's a lot of good designs already in this Classic Space contest, and it
really got me to thinking.  I would spend sick money on the LL-932 (?),
super-gigantor Galaxy Explorer's 'big brother' set submitted recently.  I'm
sure there are many more great concepts to come, too.

OK now, the AFOL market (us) is finally being tapped seriously.  Our beloved
and newfound emissary Brad Justus has brought us the bulk sales. The USC SW
stuff is amazing (and popular), and now these macro-sets (such as the 1800+
piece mini-figure and the 2500+ piece Statue of Liberty) are out there, too.
Obviously, TLC is finally marketing directly to us fogies.

Why not go the extra step and bring back the Classic themes?

Yeah, this is old talk.  Everyone wants the old days back again.  Everyone
wanted Classic Coke, too though, and bringing it back was a financial boon
for Coca-Cola.  Blah, blah, blah.

Still, if I might be allowed the dying gasp of this conversation, why the
heck wouldn't it be possible?  Classic Town and Space sets, with the
familiar yellow-sided boxes with flip-lid design, and perhaps a very special
gold Legoland corner-banner printed on gold foil, reading "Classic Legoland."

Designs for sets, at least in raw form, could come right from Lugnet-TLC
sponsored contests held every spring (to allow development time).  Wasn't
this precisely how 6951 Robot Command Center was designed?  In a building
contest? This idea is nothing new at all.

To assure popularity, the sets might not only be judged by employees of
Lego, but by us Lugnet members, too.

We rallied and rallied, moaned and groaned long enough, and finally got some
bulk packs.  It was US that got Lego to notice the AFOL's.  Please tell me
if I'm mistaken about the majority of us wanting to collect more Classic
Legoland sets.  If I'm not, then we've GOTTA rally again.

(...) Seriously? Did you hear that somewhere? Wow, that would be wild. And would explain a few things. :-) (...) I'd love to see a new line of classic Space sets -- not re-releases of old stuff, but new set designs using the old style. I'd buy all (...)
