Just a quick note for this morning. I'm currently capturing and upload
pictures of Burp Mountain, featured in the recent town building contest, in
which I was awarded 3rd place for the 'Structures' category. These pictures
are the current (more detailed) previously seen rendition of the mountain. I
wanted to get these out before it is redesigned for Brickfest 2001. Here's
the link:  http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?f=4528

My redesign will include 1) More sections 2) Separate tunnel entrance pieces
3)2 45 degree turn pieces that will allow a full 90 degree turn if it is
configured for a turn.

What some of you may not know, is that the Burp Mountain was conceived to
allow each section to be moved around to any position, and turned, so that
you could have a contiguous, and completely and nearly endlessly variation
to the mountain tunnel. The redesign will incorporate the same principals
and design features that the previous one did, with more sections and the
ability to either 'dog-leg' or turn a full 90 degrees. And obviously, the
turn will be able to be placed anywhere in the structure, or have any
section omitted as the track designer would see fit.

A beautiful mountain! From the pictures I don't think you get a real good idea of just how big the mountain is -- it's really impressive in person. Abe (...) (23 years ago, 16-May-01, to lugnet.build.arch)

(...) Sounds like you came to many of the same conclusions as I did after my first mountain.(1) (...) Very impressive work - you've got it much more modular than I managed; although I'm rebuilding from scratch for each show, so I've got a little (...) (23 years ago, 16-May-01, to lugnet.build.arch)

(...) That's excellent, Richard. That's the kind of thing I'd love to do, but on a smaller scale due to a lesser amount of BURPs than you have. ;) I have an unrelated question though - In your brickshelf account - under the FFIPS folder - are those (...)
