The two-humped camel was found mostly in Iran and beyond which is why Greeks
called it Bactrian. The one-humped camel was domesticated, separately, in the
Arabian desert and had a much more widespread territory. Ancient artwork outside
Persian Iran (and a few other places) is mostly concerned with one-humped
camels.
The camel is really an interesting beast because it competed successfully with
the wheel for millenia--until gasoline.
See _The Camel and the Wheel_ by Richard W. Bulliet. The cover illustration
includes a hybrid, hump-and-a-half camel!
If you think two humps are tricky try building that!
