Jim, You did an excellent job on this citadel. It has the combination
fortress/ceremonial/beauty that ancient buildings should have. I love the
shape of the citadel, the diamond. I love the stairs coming off, and the
diagonal corners, it's a fresh image to most of the square stuff out there
(while alot of it's great too ;) ) The garden and fountains are very well
done, looks like a place where all virtous minifigs can come, relax and read
an interesting scroll. It'd be nice to maybe see some benches around the
fountains, to relax, but this doesn't seem to be a place to come and relax
but a kingly place for serious buisness and all that, so people lounging
around the garden wouldn't look proper.

As I responded to George, Maelee and I wanted to try a lesser used shape for
this design.  We agree with you that there is alot of fantastic creations that
are square, but it is always nice to try something new once in a while :)
That is one of the greatest things about lego creations, people see different
stuff then the builders do.  Your ideas about minifigs relaxing in the garden is
a perfect example.  Hopefully some one will take your idea and expand upon it to
produce a new MOC.

In picture 4, is that a dragon statue, or is it actually a dragon slurping up
water out of the bowl like a dog? :D Either way is great.

The idea here was to have dragon statues to complete the tops of the side
temples, but i like your idea of feeding the Dragons on the roof :)

The main gate looks great, with the 2 ceremonial guards and the peddler
approaching with his cart and the two lion statues are awesome too.

The Lion statues are a carry over from last year's castle MOC.  Maelee couldn't
bare to see them destroyed so we incorporated them into this MOC

The black on the sides of the walls make it look very ancienty like symbols
of their gods, or symbols of a leader, or a great battle, or an enemy.

Maelee was the inspiration for decorating the walls with symbols.

The towers look like a great place for a king to look out over his kingdom
and have meetings with allies.
The architecture is great and the catwalks to the middle tower, nicely done.

How does the gate work, in one picture I see the peddler approaching with the
door sealed, and in the next one it's open, how does it open/close, does it
require the "magic hands" to come down and pluck it off, or could
it(hypothetically of course) be done by minifigs?

Hypothetically it could be opened by minifigs, I had used technic pieces so that
by turning a crank on the inside of the gate house, the gates would slide
open/shut

I would love to see closer pics on the big tower and the interiors, if possible.

More are coming, I just wanted to get some pictures out so that I could share my
creations with my fellow AFOLs who couldn't attend Brickfest.

You did a great job with this citadel. I can see it being surrounded by a
city, and then walls after it, it being the living place and the refuge in
the case the outer wall is breached, great job.

Thanks again.  Your encouragement is greatly appreciated!
