Geordan, Most Wartime Spitfires were of a brown, and 2 shade green color, while Photo recon spits were a pale blue shade. Some USAAF and RAF spitfires as well as RN seafires were in a pale grey color that the light grey lego shade approximates very (...) (23 years ago, 2-Aug-01, to lugnet.build, lugnet.general)

Yeah I thought of making the spitfire two tone of tan and green or something like that, but the results aren't very apealing, it is impossible to get smooth camo lines with lego, that's why I figured that I may do decals instead, I'm still (...) Geordan, I found some info on a modelling page. Check this page out (URL) are some color photos of some spitfires under the aircraft reference section, and some profiles a bit lower down under the heading "Camouflage and Markings of No. 74 Sqn RAF (...) Thanks! Great pages with lots of pics! I've gotten about a three foot pile of books on WWII aircraft and spits over the past two weeks so I'm up to my knees in resources ( literally!) Thanks for the idea! I'm toying now with using lots of 1x1 plates (...) (23 years ago, 2-Aug-01, to lugnet.build, lugnet.general)

I've settled on the colours after fiddlin with the CAD format of the spit, it's either going to be brown and green mixed together, or tan and green mixed. Neither of them look half bad IMO. (...) (23 years ago, 3-Aug-01, to lugnet.build, lugnet.general)
