where do I start?
how do I sort?
what goes where?

I sorted by color for many years, but I don't think it's a good idea.
I recently switched to sorting by type of element, and find it to be
much more useful.  The main problems with sorting by color are:

1. It's hard to find the right element when it's buried among others
of the same color; when sorting by type, it's easier to find an
element of a particular color because the color stands out better.

2. I found a tendency to neglect colors that I could have used for
accents: for example, I used very little yellow in my MOC's, because I
was too lazy to pour out the yellow bin and dig through it to find the
right part.  As a result, my models ended up being practically
monochromatic.

Hope this helps.
