Thanks for the compliment.
Actually the silver pieces are fairly tightly integrated into the structure.
There is no way to remove them without destroying the building. However, I
can see your criticism as being valid. These panels are fairly difficult to
use in a minifig scale building because:
- They were designed for a much larger scale.
- Strangely enough, they are offset at a slight angle from their mounting.
This makes it look like the panels are slapped on there and hanging by a
thread even though they are solidly attached. These panels would be far
more asthetically pleasing if they were straight as compared to their
mountings.
Without the panels, I would have needed some sort of trim or the building
would have looked excessively plain. I could have used gray, as I did on
the sides, but I think that the silver dresses it up a bit. The angling of
the panels is definitely a downer, but overall, I think that they add to it
rather than detract.
