Hey!
This is my first post to Lugnet. My brother took some pictures of my two life-
size LEGO cats and my mini LEGO elephant and we decided to post the pictures on
Brickshelf.

My first creation: a grey elephant. It's minifig size. I made it about three
months ago, and he's the result of my first attempts to make an animal. He's
very (very!) simple compared to my cats.

My second creation: a yellow cat. It's lifesize and the biggest LEGO sculpture I
had built to that point. The chain hanging out of it's mouth is supposed to be
the tail of the mouse he had for lunch. The eyes are compasses because I didn't
have any ideas. Building this cat gave me some experience in building my third
creation:

... a white cat. I'm very proud of the cat. I just finished it today. It took me
2 days to build: I worked on it some Friday after school and this afternoon.
It's larger and a lot more elaborate than the yellow cat, and you can see the
difference on one of the pictures where they stand side-by-side. It's also a lot
more stable than the yellow cat. It's lifesize. Picture of the two cats

I got the idea for the eyes after finishing TCAPS. Since there are no thin
vertical lego pieces that would work as the pupils, I stacked 5 plates and put
them on their side, so the eyes fall out when you tip the cat over.
But I still think they look pretty cool.
I didn't use many slopes, unlike in my yellow cat. The only slopes I used were
for the nose (the white bridge of the nose and the grey nose itself). That makes
5 slopes. I only used 9 plates,not counting the eyes, of which 5 were used for
the mouth and 2 on top of the head.
The cat is completely hollow inside, no vertical columns for support. I had to
make some adjustments so the sides wouldn't cave in, but it turned out well.
The cat is modeled to look a bit like a Ragdoll cat. That's why it's big and on
the fat side.
The area around the mouth and chin was very complicated and cluttered so I
didn't want to make it even more complicated by adding whiskers. I might add
those later.
The tail is wrapped around the right side of the cat on the floor. I didn't like
the tail experiences I had with the yellow cat, so I changed it.
The two front paws are together, because I would have been left with an odd
number of studs to work with if I had put a space between them. That would ruin
the symmetry when I connected them.
I decided to build the cats because I searched the net for LEGO cats but I
didn't find any. There are hundreds of cat pictures on the net, but none were
made from bricks.
I build the elephant for one of my brother's ninja houses. It carries the
important people (and the warriors who guard them) around.
My next project is a red Somali cat. I hope you like these creatures. Please
give me some feedback on my first animals.

| Natalia, very nice! I really took a shine to that white cat...a great sculpture. It looks like you'll upstage Pawel soon with MOCS like that. <grin> Oh, one question...what do you feed that elephant? It's huge compared to them figs! <grin> Can't (...) (24 years ago, 8-Apr-01, to lugnet.build)

| (...) Well, finally catching up on postings... I just saw your cats Natalia and they look GREAT!!!! Excellent use of the brick to create curves and shaping of the features. I must say I like the white cat a LOT more than the Yellow cat. Excellent (...) (24 years ago, 19-Apr-01, to lugnet.build)
