I've just finished editing the images of another recent MOC. It is closely
modeled on the USMC's Light Armored Vehicle, or LAV nicknamed the Piranha.
There are quite a few variations of this awesome amphibious vehicle in use,
ranging from (1) the standard variation that carries up to 7 troops, to
mobile field command unit, FirstAid, field recovery, Anti Aircraft defense,
and Combat Support variants with either 90mm or 105mm main guns.

Mine carries no troops (2), has a crew of 2, rather than the 3 of the real
version, has a 90mm auto loading main gun, a 25mm chain gun secondary gun
with both Thermal and standard Optic sights, and a .50 caliber anti personel
weapon atop the turret.
Some features that I was able to build in:
- 8 wheel opposable steering.
- removable gas turbine engine.
- access to most of the linkage of the steering to allow "repairs" to be
completed in the field.
- Operating driver's and main turret hatches (Minifigs must be removed first).
- Attachable propeller drive unit for amphibious crossings (something I
neglected to photograph, unfortunately).
- Main sight blast covers to prevent damage when not in use.
- Detailed driver and commander's stations.
It's the perfect Combat Support unit for any Space Marine unit looking for
more firepower than the average unit of this size.
Hope it's as enjoyable to look at as it was to build!

(1) If anyone is interested in more information on the real LAV, this is a
great link and was quite helpful to me:

(2) Adding in the opposable steering took up enough interior space that the
engine had to be moved to the back rather than being midmounted as with the
Real LAV. The engine in my model now occupies what would be the troop
section of the vehicle. Something had to be sacrificed so it became a close
support variant instead. I already have a troop transport (pics hopefully soon).

| That is really slick! I like the green/dark gray color scheme (I used a similar color scheme on my Kobold Mech). I'm looking forward to getting that green dragon kit from shop@home, for copious amounts of green bricks. This looks like it would make (...) (24 years ago, 11-Jan-01, to lugnet.build, lugnet.space)

| (...) <snip> Oh, very nice! I particularly like the machine gun with ammo box mounted on the turret. I realize it's a pretty simple thing, but it just has a good form. The rest of the model is excellent as well. The removable engine is a nice touch. (...) (24 years ago, 11-Jan-01, to lugnet.build, lugnet.space)
