Hmmm, good question! I thought about this fact earlier on. Michael Obert's
pictures show the DX only in the wrong way! But does that make sense? Perhaps
this could be a solution: The Desert Express operates in the "right order" one
way. And the other way back the engine is running the wrong way.
Perhaps at the end stations there is just no circular track, just some points.
After reaching the end the engine might be decoupled and drives to the other
end of the cars - without turning. Logically it must drive back the "wrong
way"!
