Joe, Great job on Cathedral II!!! I really like it. I can't wait until
Cathedral III.
You did something that I try to avoid, namely the Chevet (curved east end
of French cathedrals). There are a lot of logistic problems in building
one, as I am sure you know, since you did your homework. I usually take
the easy way out and build my cathedrals on the English plan, namely square
east end. But there are few things anywhere in architecture that surpass
the beauty of a Chevet. One other thing that is apparent is that you
studied the historic models. This is very important in building "in the
style" of the great cathedrals. Architecture books are invaluable in such
endeavors. When people complain why they cannot build something this nice,
my usual reply is "do your homework and study architecture!". Libaries
everywhere are full of historic architecture books.
Great cathedral! Great job!!
I dub thee "LEGO Master Mason"!
Congrats,
Gary Istok

| Hello all, I have a new web page up featuring a few of my Lego creations. The most interesting thing there is my Gothic Cathedral II which was over 1 ft high and over 2 1/2 ft long. Some other creations are there as well. My Lego page can be found (...) (26 years ago, 11-Jan-99, to lugnet.build)
