I do have two copies of that set that I got for cheap at Zany Brainy. The
rest of the big panels came from various space sets (including 2 of Exploriens
6958). I have since acquired a few more of these panel pieces from a parts
sale site for a very reasonable price, so my next space base will dwarf this
one.

The monorails came out when I was in college, so I didn't buy any at the time
either (lack of money, not of interest). I recently got the two space
monorail sets from someone I found through a posting in lugnet.marketplace
(thanks a ton, Andy!) Normally I don't have the cash to spare either, but I
recently sold a bunch of non-Lego stuff on eBay to finance the purchase.
What I'd really like to see is the return of monorails. But Lego needs to
either create a real space theme or move away from the juniorization of the
town theme. On the other hand, a Rock Raiders monorail would certainly be
welcome- especially if they made a motor cover piece in grey or black.
