I made one with Belville base and UFO canopy

Check out carousel picture on my website under
"LEGOLAND with western theme park" page.

My LEGO creations site "Allanton NZ" is at
http://homepages.paradise.net.nz/~allanj/

I want to make a merry-go-round that will use the 14-stud UFO domes as a
canopy.  A calculation assuming that the edge of the wing tapers by an
integral number of studs says that the angle is just a little over 18 degrees,
which would mean that 10 pairs wouldn't quite fit together as a circle.

But it's also possible that the taper is actually an accurate 18 degrees,  and
the width is not quite integral at the narrow end.

If anyone has done a precise measurement,  or actually tried making a circle
like this,  please post a reply with what you found out.

Other suggested approaches are welcome,  too.  I have a deal for some 12-stud
quarter-circle Belville bricks arranged as a fallback.

(...) Nice stuff, Allan! I hadn't seen a ferris wheel in that style in so long I'd forgotten they exist: I wound up building the frame out of the Znap that came with the motors I bought at the Toys R Us clearance, to get the circular shape I had in (...) (24 years ago, 2-Sep-00, to lugnet.build)
