Welllll.... I'm not sure I agree. There's quite a long way to go IMO between a
1x4 arch piece and a 5x6 castle wall. There are many pieces that are not quite
generic that I couldn't live without (for example the said arches, as well as
the 1x1 brick w/headlight) and I would NOT call them specialized-- not what
you consider specialized, at least. The Castle wall, as useful as it is, is a
SPUD (1) and I personally don't really like it. I would not put SW heads in
the same category as the castle wall, because I think that the amount of
specialization given to SW heads is just the right amount. It's too bad that
TLC doesn't make all their heads in the SW style, IMHO.

You've got some good points -- I guess specialisation is more of a continuum
than a couple of categories. There's also a fairly clear disinction between
your average SPUD and a piece like the headlight. The latter was designed
(presumably) to go on the front of cars, but as I'm sure everyone has found
it's also great for changing the "building plane".

Well here's my POV. Specialization is one thing; SPUDness is another.
Specialization is a good thing; I can't think of any good MOC I've ever made
that wouldn't be incomplete without specialized pieces. (Ouch, too many
quadruple negatives!) ...I'll restate that; my MOCs are unique because they
use specialized pieces *to some extent*. This is the key here, AFA I'm
concerned. Without 2x2 rounds, 1x2x3 inverse slopes, all the convex & concave
& peak 45 deg slopes available, 1x4 arches, 1x2 tiles w/center stud, arched
windows and so many other pieces, my inn (2) would a box. As it is, I can
venture to say it's not a box; I'll even go as far as saying it's something
I'm proud of.

I like your model -- wish I had some of those inverse slopes. Cute interior
details too. I like designing so the building is _just_ big enough for a
minifig to get around.

My two major completed MOCs as an AFOL have been an Aztec pyramid/temple
and a pirates' outpost. The first of these was built largely from 375
(yellow castle), the second from 6080 (king's castle). 375 can become
almost anything, 6080 is only any good for medieval-renaissance buildings,
or maybe a really gothic space cruiser in a pinch.

I'd love to see those two!

I'll post in announce when(if) I take some pictures and get around to writing
up a web-site. The temple has a couple of traps and some feature rooms (snake-
god statue, scorpion pit).
