just some random fun.
I was putting some parts away last night, and while I had my "misc.
rounded parts" box open, I played around with some of the pieces
inside... and came up with a remarkably good top (you know, those
things you spin)
take three of those 4x4 round bricks (used in the Y-wing, and as wheels
in some current castle sets)
stack them
put a 2x2 round plate with smooth rounded bottom (the thing they put on
the bottom of boats sometimes) on the bottom.
Put a length 6 axle through the hole in the top. Push it all the way
down.
Spin it. It's fun. :)
If you think having such a flat bottom is "cheating" .. use a 2x2x2 cone
instead of the rounded plate and assemble it "studs down". But that
won't spin as well. OTOH, it will fall on its side when it stops, so
you can use some rectangular bricks and stickers to make a dreidel (sp?)
out of it.
