Hi, Fred! Welcome!
You might want to look into a shareware program called lDraw, as well as
an add-on for it called LDLITE. Another possibility is to acquire the
freeware program POV-Ray, for which a number of parts libraries are
available. Either of tehse might get you a little closer to doing what
you want to accomplish.
