4- vs. 6- vs. 8-wide debate redux (Was: Re: Containers)

(Okay, this is posted to .build _only_, because it has no relation to trains
whatsoever. It has nothing to do with containers either, only the ongoing 4-
vs. 6- vs. 8- wide controversy.)

I was just thinking this morning how I need to build some rescue equipment for
my Launch Command setup, and how displeased I was at LEGO's fire and rescue
trucks, helicopters, et al. I already have 10+ safety crew for my astronauts
and their support crews, but the safety crew is limited to running to
emergency situations. I decided to go 6-wide with my rescue trucks and
whatnot, as that should afford me at least 2 onboard crew per vehicle. Once
I've got some MOC's together, I'll post more info.

I have been wondering the same thing; should I make containers 4 wide
or six wide. 4 wide means I am ok with the old style containers and I
can continue using windows and shutters for doors. 6 wide means I have
enough doors to make 1 container.

I think 6-wide makes much more impressive trucks.  You can always make doors
out of plates, using a few 1x2 plates w/ handle and
plate 1x1 w/ vert. clip to create hinges.  If you're feeling • really
ambitious, go eight-wide, and about 40-50 studs long[1] :)
