Do your minifigs need a powerful front loader?

I've just finished some LDraw instructions for a minifig scale
articulated front loader.

    http://www.math.uio.no/~fredrigl/technic/loader/

It features working steering and a bucket that is raisable and tiltable.
Both bucket operations are easily controlled with a dedicated handle,
and both movements lock in the upper position so that you can drive
around with some load without having to clench to the handles.

The body is four studs wide, and the model is slightly more than 8 studs
wide including the wheels.  This scale makes it rather suitable for the
minifigs, I think.

Note that the renderings show the model with the wrong wheels and
without the bucket.  This is due to the limited nubmer of pieces
available in LDraw.  There are more details on this on the web page.

I have provided instructions to make the model, both the LDraw DAT-files
and pages of GIF images that show the steps.

Please feel free to comment on the design or anything else.

BTW: Is it considered comme il faut to post a message like this to this
discussion group?  Should I have inlined the DAT-files and posted it to
lugnet.cad.dat in stead?

Fredrik

Nice looking model Fredrik. I wish I were so talented. Once I get my place back together, (I just moved to another residence) I plan to build it. Thanks for the detailed information! John Matthews aka leonard0 (26 years ago, 5-Nov-98, to lugnet.build)
