Jeff Stembel: (...) It looks like I qualify for the "Darth Vader" title. My minifigs drive ten-wide (and eight, six, four, and two wide). We have an ongoing competition about the smallest minifig car. We are at 3.2*2 at the moment! Play well, Jacob (...) (25 years ago, 1-Sep-99, to lugnet.build, lugnet.general)

Re: New models of Semi Trucks etc. —Bram Lambrecht
(...) What about 3, 5, and 7 wide? I'd like to see how others solve the problem of odd-width cars. (Actually, I've only used 5 wide for the bed of a pick-up truck, and 7 wide for my AT-ST, but I think other vehicles would be interesting (3 wide golf (...)         Re: New models of Semi Trucks etc. —Will Hess
(...) This would involve using regular tiles and the 1x2 tiles with a single stud to serve as a "bed" to place an offset 3,5,or 7 wide body upon. This would work pretty easy for 3-wide, but the others would require another layer of plates to hold (...) (25 years ago, 1-Sep-99, to lugnet.build, lugnet.general)

Re: New models of Semi Trucks etc. —Kevin Wilson
(...) You may already know this, Will, but Lego's current Idea Book (which is pretty lame overall) has instructions for a semi cab which has a 4-wide driving cab and a 5-wide rear (sleeping?) cab. I just built it today, by coincidence. It's not bad. (...) (25 years ago, 1-Sep-99, to lugnet.build, lugnet.general)

(...) I'll have to track a copy down then. I remember they did this with the Indy Transport (my brother has it) but he lost the instructions to it and I haven't bothered to look for them on kl.net (soon to be the brickshelf). How many studs long is (...) (25 years ago, 2-Sep-99, to lugnet.build, lugnet.general)

Re: New models of Semi Trucks etc. —Larry Pieniazek
Lego reuses good ideas. The Maersk set sleeper cab is also 5 wide. Also, I believe one of my favorite tow trucks has a 5 wide equipment bed: (URL) recall getting a bunch of these when S@H was blowing them out in early 1998. Aspiring builders of 5 (...)
