Thanks! Although personally I feel that I haven't yet come up with anything
that looks quite as sexy as 6887 Allied Avenger (Blacktron 2). That is my
favourite TLG design ever. Mine always seemed a little too "conventional"
when compared to something as unique as 6887. Bubble cockpits rule. Or
should I say "rock". After all, this _is_ the nineties :)

One thing though: What are those green/yellow tubes on the back of the • first
ship?

They are plastic insulation stripped from mains electrical wiring (last time
the electrician visited, I think). Very similar in consistency to the
ubiquitous black Lego tubes, but alas, not Lego. Didn't worry me, I thought
it looked better with them and that was all that mattered. My MOCs are full
of such travesties - the White fighter has diagonal windows coloured with
blue marker to be extremely close to "the" Lego dark transparent blue tint.
The blacktron fighter's cockpit wheels have had their studs filed down
because, in an act of foolishness, Lego designed these early wheel axles to
be slightly wider than 4 studs. The "Shiva-1" uses 2x8 hinges hat were
dismantled and re-assembled the wrong way (something that they weren't
designed to do) because it aided construction in a way that was, at the
time, unique (well at least in my collection). They also use a few pieces
that seemed to become more useful after they were broken, like the little
round "light clips" that broke of the 1x1 tiles. Who was it who first said,
"Necessity is the mother of invention"?

I say, "Use that black paint! Splash it all over them!" Just NOT on the grey
classic windows, for God's sake! They'll kill you!!!
