Fred, I was wondering about the lack of beams ( I only looked at the
front view ) Is there enough rigidity using ( ingeniously ) axles as
frame members?

Yes, I'd say so.  Certainly, this chassis wouldn't be solid enough for a
large rig, say, but for a light racing car, it feels right.

I've tried to bend the chassis various ways to test the rigidity, and it
feels solid enough.  Certianly, it does flex a bit, but so would a
chassis made up of beams.

When I add a body later on, I will try to do that in a way such that the
rigidity is beefed up a little bit more.

This design is partially inspired from the game Carmageddon II, where
most cars are made up of a frame chassis and some body plates over
that.  Of course, the opponent's body plates come off pretty fast when I
bump into them!  :-)  (If anybody here are familiar with the game, I'm
aiming for the look of the "Buzzmobile".)
