The Southern California LEGO Train club (SCLTC) has opened its fifth consecutive annual winter show at the San Diego Model Railroad Museum (SDMRRM) in Balboa Park in San Diego.

This year’s show features two separate displays. The expanded Island of Sodor layout includes Thomas the Tank Engine, Tidmouth Sheds, Wellington Station, Gordon’s Hill and many other familiar characters and locales including the new animated windmills and water-wheel powered wood shop.

The expanded contemporary city layout sports a Hard Rock Cafe, Car Museum, and multiple skyscrapers including a version of the Crystal Towers Hotel that previously appeared only at BrickFest/PDX in 2004

The show opened on Tuesday November 21 and will run through Friday January 19. The museum is open Tuesday through Friday from 11:00 to 16:00 and Saturdays and Sundays from 11:00 to 17:00. In addition, the musuem will be open January 15 for MLK’s birthday and the evenings of December 1 and 2 for December Nights at the park. Admission is free for children under 15 and $6.00 for adults, but is free for everyone on the first Tuesday of each month and during the evening hours of December Nights.

The San Diego Model Railroad museum is the premier model railroad museum in the country and features a number of large layouts in various gauges.
