Nice truck.  And the photos are excellent.  I am very impressed by the
photography.  What did you use to take the pictures?

They are very clear and well lit.(1)  And the out of focus background is great.

Olympus DL500, one of the early 1024x768 cameras. It's an incredible battery
hog, but has a really good optical zoom, macro, and fill flash capability.

The trick is to get down to the level of the model, and then ZOOM in on it.
This reduces the depth of field, which blurs the background. It's a
standard technique in portrait photography.

Also remember to add flash to fill in the shadows from sunlight. I always
get wied looks when I use a flash in broad daylight, but it DOES help
even out the shadows.

Digital photography is really neat, I haven't used a roll of "real" film in
two years now. The 60K images are 800x600 with 75% jpeg compression. At
high res, the 1024x768 images are ~500K in size!

Thanks for the feedback!

Cheers,

Ralph Hempel - P.Eng

(...) Thanks for the info, Ralph. I do have an Apple Quicktake 150, but the output of it sucks. (Moral: don't be an early adopter of technology) One of these days, I will get a good digital camera. -- Terry K -- (25 years ago, 23-Jun-99, to lugnet.build)
