It was time to build something from a Poser figure.

In the past I had done the plans first, then ordered the pieces, then built. This time I decided to try to build using only the pieces that I already owned. This meant doing a complete sort of every brick in my collection. A couple weeks and two seasons of Buffy The Vampire Slayer DVDs later I had sorted, bagged, and weighed all of my pieces.
//            1x1    1x2    1x3    1x4    1x6    1x8   2x2    2x3    2x4   2x6
Blue          518   2423    359   1546    248      7  1082   1835     96     5
Green         357   1766     15    274     28      0   793    142   1077     0
Black         677    541     76    881   1085     28   863    211     75     1
Red          5542   2909   2329   1663    157    936  1173   1152    727   223
White         328    563   1203    661     95     58  1359     22     65    29
Yellow        437   1747      1    838    247    274  2111   1091    757  1456
49808 total bricks. But only 8977 in yellow. I was a bit suprised at the 16874 bricks of red. An almost complete lack of yellow 1x3 bricks was because of a herd of bunnies that I had made a while back.

I tried to limit myself to 90% of each type of brick. This would allow for padding in case I had overestimated the quantites because of the weight of the ziploc bags.

It took almost a week to squeeze the sculpture into this piece distribution.
// count   1x1   1x2   1x3   1x4   1x6   1x8   2x2   2x3   2x4   2x6
Red        390   265   260    90    47    14    12    38    20    46
Yellow     378   872     0   741   190   237   236   961   434   271
So it would end up taking about 5500 bricks.

A week later and a full season of CSI Miami and King of the Hill, and I had a proof of concept.

The left hand still needs some work. But I think it’s still very cool overall.

(...) I look at this work and see a great creation built with my favorite bricks and I appreciate the effort it took to build. I also look at this and see a work of art produced in a favorite medium that I can identify with and appreciate. Any way (...) (19 years ago, 5-Feb-06, to lugnet.build.sculpture, FTX)

(...) This is a great sculpture, a very nice follow up to the piece you brought to brickfest. Is this the final form, or a proof of concept for yet another piece? I'm curious about the yellow- how did you decide on that? I can visualize several of (...) (19 years ago, 5-Feb-06, to lugnet.build.sculpture, FTX)
