Yeah, I thought of plastic too after I posted, so thanks for adding it! This
idea could work on minifig torsos too, e.g. if you need a custom torso design
but dont want to permanently sticker over or brasso off the existing pattern(s)
to paint/draw your own. One could even make the paper/plastic cutout pattern
continue over the minifigs shoulders, like for Star Trek: The Next
Generation shirts or suspenders.

Interesting idea. When I thought of paper I immediately thought of it tearing
or having a different finish (matte rather than glossy), so I thought maybe
really thin plastic, I think I recall see this in scrap booking shops.

I was looking at some Lego train creations recently & was thinking about how
the sloped brick lines on the trains were well done. Then I thought of
the difficulty in getting sloped or curved lines to look right in brick,
OR maybe not having the right SNOT pieces to do a certain slope/curve like
some of the great examples Ive seen, OR maybe not wanting to put stickers
on so one would have to remove the adhesive gunk later. Then it hit me, why
not use paper with tabs that fold over the stud like cape & backpack pieces
do on minifigs:
This could be used for any decal, logo, etc. & allow for other brick
arrangements underneath. E.G. what if you needed an axle going thru the
model mounted right where the sticker is & the axle isnt in the color you
need or the x end looks awkward? Voila!
Thanks to the Wamalug site for the great Lego graph paper (I couldnt find
the official link on Lego.com anymore)
Enjoy!
