Yeah, I thought of plastic too after I posted, so thanks for adding it! This
idea could work on minifig torso’s too, e.g. if you need a custom torso design
but don’t want to permanently sticker over or brasso off the existing pattern(s)
to paint/draw your own. One could even make the paper/plastic cutout pattern
continue over the minifig’s shoulders, like for Star Trek: The Next
Generation shirts or suspenders.

I was looking at some Lego train creations recently & was thinking about how
the sloped brick ‘lines’ on the trains were well done. Then I thought of
the difficulty in getting sloped or curved lines to ‘look’ right in brick,
OR maybe not having the right SNOT pieces to do a certain slope/curve like

not use paper with tabs that fold over the stud like cape & backpack pieces

arrangements underneath. E.G. what if you needed an axle going thru the
model mounted right where the sticker is & the axle isn’t in the color you
need or the ‘x’ end looks awkward? Voila!
