Hi Larry, I made these
Name Blocks when I
worked at the LEGO Store.
They are kinda basic, but they do tackle some tricky letters.
A bit of advice when building letters:
Hint - Make the width of the letters an even number of bricks, while the height
is an odd number of bricks. This allows you to make letters like “E” “R” and
“K”. These types of letter require some room to build and the odd offset helps
to make them. Or depending on the style, reverse the method.
Another example: GardenSLUG sign
Also, try SNOT lettering, use plates and or tiles to make letters:
