Like quite a few others I thought it was too bad the 8652 Enzo didnt have more
functionality, so I did a little modification myself.
Well, to be honest, its not as much a modification than a plan for one. The
pictures only show the right-side wheel, but its pretty simple to extrapolate
from there. The black 4*8 plate has the same ground level as the blue 6*8 plate
in the Enzo model.
The key parts are four towball plates and two
technic steering arms small. Add some
jumper bricks and steering links and youre good to go.
The main advantage of this solution is that a great deal of the steering parts
are actually built inside the model team wheel, so the pivot point allows the
wheel to rotate with just a 6-studs long gap, which is perfect for the Enzo
model.
Even though it looks like the tire touches the bricks, it can actually still run
freely. The other two situations are default technic steering with a model team
wheel, and how the huge honkin Enzo wheels would require an 8-stud gap even in
the most optimal build.
Since my own Enzo has currently been disassembled to get parts for other
projects I couldnt build the full mod, but I hope this gives people some
inspiration to rebuild their own Enzo, or an entirely different car which would
otherwise be quite hard to give
steering.
Now Im just hoping that Lego will release those 3-wide tires in a 2-wide
version.
Build on!
