Okay, heres a quickly assembled 14-stud diameter sphere in tan:

This was built from the following rendering of one facet, direct from
Bruces script - it even got my browser to launch MLCad!

Brams script. Bruce made the original small plate sphere. Anyway, its
great that you were inspired to build one right away! Did you play around
much with different diameters to get one that looked best, or did you just go
with what came first? --Bram

Sorry, a typo. I was too busy building!
I was thinking of building something with moonbase ports fitted on the side (my
podule idea of 16-stud square units, with swappable caps and 16-stud
corridors), so 14 studs seemed about right. It was also about the right number
of parts. Unfortunately I didnt have enough jumpers in light grey or white to
attempt it, just an odd lot of tan.
Actually, I tried 16 studs but it gave me a 9-stud core. I really wanted it
based on an even number to make it easier to build, so I went smaller. I did
try some fractions (14.9), and noticed it made a slight difference to the
curvature detailing, though not the actual thickness of each facet.
I suppose the next step is for someone to gather their colours and do a globe.
